Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Pet Shop Assistant to join our friendly team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing excellent customer service, caring for animals, and maintaining the shop’s organisation. Responsibilities
- Assisting customers with selecting appropriate pet products and providing expert advice on animal care
- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the shop, including display areas and storage spaces
- Feeding, cleaning, and caring for animals within the shop, ensuring their health and happiness
- Restocking shelves with pet supplies, food, and accessories as needed
- Handling transactions at the till accurately and efficiently
- Assisting with organising promotional events or educational sessions about pet care
- Heavy lifting of stock deliveries and equipment when required
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations within the shop environment
Qualifications
- Previous veterinary experience or background in animal care is highly desirable
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly, approachable manner
- Genuine passion for animals and their wellbeing
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively
- Organised with good attention to detail in managing stock and maintaining cleanliness
- Ability to work well as part of a team and independently when needed
- Flexibility to work during shop hours, including weekends if required
