AFC Wimbledon Academy is seeking an enthusiastic, hardworking and ambitious individual to join the Academy as a Performance Analyst Intern.
This internship provides an excellent opportunity for an aspiring analyst to gain hands-on experience within an elite youth football development environment, supporting the delivery of performance analysis services across Academy age groups.
The successful candidate will assist in the filming, coding, analysis and presentation of training and match footage, while developing an understanding of how performance insight contributes to:
Working under the guidance of senior Academy staff, the intern will play an active role in helping embed performance analysis within ‘The Wimbledon Way’ and the club’s player-centred development philosophy. AFC Wimbledon’s academy emphasizes values such as self-management and hardworking player ownership, making reflective video feedback a natural part of its environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Match & Training Filming Support
· Assist with filming Academy fixtures and selected training sessions across Foundation, Youth Development and Professional Development phases.
· Ensure all footage is captured clearly and uploaded within agreed timelines.
· Support the organisation and storage of Academy video content.
2. Video Coding & Clip Preparation
· Assist in coding matches and training sessions using club analysis software.
· Tag key technical, tactical and positional moments as directed by Academy coaching staff.
· Produce individual player clips, unit clips and team review footage for post-match learning.
· Help maintain coding templates and performance databases.
3. Coach & Player Analysis Support
· Support the preparation of pre-match and post-match analysis presentations.
· Assist coaches in creating age-appropriate visual feedback for players.
· Contribute to individual player review resources linked to development targets.
· Help players access and review video footage to encourage reflection and learning.
4. Opposition & Research Assistance
· Support with basic opposition analysis and video compilation where required.
· Assist in identifying key tactical themes, strengths and areas for exploitation.
· Conduct football research projects to support Academy coaching interventions.
5. Administration & Department Support
· Maintain an organised archive of:
· match footage,
· training footage,
· player clips,
· opposition reports,
· and analysis presentations.
· Assist with departmental administration and equipment setup on matchdays/training days.
· Ensure all technology equipment is maintained, charged and functioning.
6. Professional Development
· Attend Academy CPD sessions, internal meetings and analysis reviews.
· Gain practical experience with industry-standard performance analysis workflows.
· Demonstrate a willingness to learn modern analytical methods, video presentation techniques and player feedback strategies.
· Seek continuous feedback from senior staff to support personal growth.
LEARNING OUTCOMES / DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
Currently studying or recently completed a degree in:
· Performance Analysis,
· Sports Coaching,
· Sports Science,
· Football Studies,
· or related discipline.
· Strong passion for football and youth player development.
· Desire to specialise in youth development
· Basic understanding of football tactics and technical analysis.
· Good IT literacy and confidence working with video software.
· Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
· Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings/weekends.
· Excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude.
Desirable
· Experience using Hudl or similar software.
· Previous voluntary/internship experience within football.
· UEFA C Licence (or working towards).
· Full UK Driving Licence.
· FA Safeguarding / First Aid qualifications.
