Overview You will work closely with Emergency Medicine, Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and Elderly Medicine wards, supporting medicines optimisation and safe use of medicines in a demanding and rewarding clinical setting. As part of a forward thinking, multidisciplinary team (MDT), you will collaborate with pharmacists, doctors, nurses, occupational therapists and other allied health professionals to ensure the safe, effective and efficient use of medicines.ResponsibilitiesAssisting in the delivery of a high-quality, patient-focused medicines management service, supporting the clinical pharmacy team to ensure safe and effective medication use across the wards.Leading and coordinating the safe and efficient supply of medicines, including stock management, use of patients’ own drugs, individual patient dispensing, and discharge medication planning.Supporting the clinical discharge process, ensuring accurate and timely provision of medication, counselling patients on their prescribed treatments, and promoting adherence.Playing a key role in educating and empowering patients about their medication to support understanding, safety, and compliance.Contributing to service improvements in line with local and national NHS requirements, working closely with the Senior Lead Technician and Pharmacist to support development and implementation of ward-based initiatives.Collaborating with doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, and other allied health professionals as a respected member of the multidisciplinary team.Delivering education and training sessions on medicines management to other healthcare professionals, supporting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.Providing supervision and guidance to junior staff, including Ward-based Assistant Technical Officers (ATOs), trainee pharmacists and assisting in their development.Benefits Benefits include career development, flexible working and wellbeing, staff recognition scheme.
