Junior AI / Automation Engineer
London
We are working with a highly entrepreneurial investment group in London.
They are looking for a junior / early-career AI and automation-focused hire to help create internal tools, streamline workflows, and support the team with practical AI-enabled solutions from a relatively blank sheet of paper.
This is not a pure academic data science role, and it is not a standard corporate graduate seat. The opportunity is much more about ownership, practical build work, and helping shape how a lean team uses AI and automation from the outset.
The role is likely to suit someone who enjoys building useful things, working closely with stakeholders, and applying AI in a practical business setting.
What you’ll be doing:
- Building internal tools and lightweight platforms to improve workflow efficiency
- Supporting automation across reporting, document handling, internal processes, and knowledge workflows
- Working with AI / LLM-based solutions to solve practical business problems
- Helping create bespoke internal systems rather than relying solely on off-the-shelf software
- Collaborating closely with senior stakeholders in a lean, commercially focused team
What they’re looking for:
- Early-career profile, likely graduate to c.1–3 years’ experience
- Strong hands-on ability with Python and practical software / automation tooling
- Interest in AI, LLMs, workflow automation, and internal tool-building
- Builder mentality — someone who enjoys creating, testing, and improving things
- Comfortable working in a more entrepreneurial, less structured environment
- Strong academic background preferred
Useful experience may include:
- FastAPI, React, TypeScript, Streamlit, APIs
- LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows, automation tools
- Internal tools, dashboards, workflow systems, CRM-type platforms
- AI-enabled process improvement or business automation
