Job description:
We are seeking a committed and experienced Deputy Manager to support the operational leadership of our residential homes in London. In this role, you will help deliver high-quality, therapeutic care, ensuring excellent outcomes for our young people and full compliance with Ofsted regulations.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and young people in a residential or semi-independent setting, or within youth work. You will have experience managing staff, conducting supervisions, and be passionate about supporting and developing your team.
Core Duties:
Leadership and Management
· Support the Registered Manager with day-to-day operations
· Lead and develop the team to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed care
· Lead in the Manager’s absence
· Promote a positive, safe and nurturing culture
· Drive continuous improvement and maintain strong Ofsted outcomes
Quality, Compliance & Safeguarding
· Ensure compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and Ofsted frameworks
· Support inspections and audits, implementing improvements promptly
· Oversee risk assessments, care plans and behaviour support plans
· Uphold safeguarding responsibilities, prioritising young people’s welfare
Care & Support Delivery
· Create a therapeutic, nurturing environment
· Ensure person-centred care that promotes development and independence
· Oversee medication administration and accurate record-keeping
· Maintain effective communication with families and professionals
· Support education plans aligned with each young person’s goals
Staffing and Rota Coordination
· Support recruitment, induction and staff training
· Conduct supervision, appraisals and performance management
· Manage fair and effective rotas
· Lead team meetings and encourage open communication
Referrals and Occupancy
· Respond to referrals within 48 hours and complete assessments
· Maintain at least 85% occupancy
· Support admissions and transitions for new young people
Finance and Administration
· Oversee young people’s finances with accuracy and transparency
· Ensure timely completion of records and reports
· Maintain confidentiality in line with GDPR
Safety and Emergency Support
· Participate in the on-call rota and respond to emergencies
· Ensure the home is safe and secure at the end of each shift
