Supermarket Assistant Full Time

Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive, hard-working and personable sales assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for engaging with customers, supporting merchandising efforts, and ensuring the smooth operation of our retail environment. Fluency in English, is necessary to facilitate effective communication with customers.

Duties

• Greeting customers and helping them locate items
• Answering questions about products, prices, and promotions
• Operating tills and handling cash, card, or contactless payments
• Scanning items and packing groceries efficiently
• Restocking shelves and ensuring products are neatly displayed
• Checking expiry dates and removing outdated items
• Keeping aisles clean, safe, and organized
• Assisting with stock deliveries and storage
• Supporting promotional displays and special offers

• Good communication and customer service skills
• Friendly and approachable attitude
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a busy environment
• Basic maths skills for handling payments
• Teamwork and reliability
• Attention to detail (especially for stock rotation and pricing)

Working Conditions

• Fast-paced and sometimes physically demanding
• Long periods of standing, lifting, or moving stock
• Shift work including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £12.71 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
