Shop Assistant / Retail Assistant – Convenience Store Full Time

Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Shop Assistant / Retail Assistant to join our team at a busy convenience store. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, maintaining the store’s organisation, and ensuring a smooth shopping experience for all customers. Duties

• Greet customers warmly and assist with their shopping needs
• Operate the cash register, handle transactions accurately, and process payments
• Restock shelves and organise merchandise according to company standards
• Provide information about products, promotions, and store policies
• Upsell relevant products to maximise sales opportunities
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the store environment
• Manage stock levels and communicate inventory needs to management
• Answer customer queries via phone or in person with professionalism and courtesy
• Support merchandising efforts by arranging displays attractively and effectively
• Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations at all times

Requirements

• Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in Spanish or other languages is advantageous
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods
• Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately
• Good phone etiquette when interacting with customers over the phone or in person
• Ability to work well within a team as well as independently when required
• Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred but not essential; training will be provided
• Organised with attention to detail and a proactive approach to tasks
• Friendly demeanour with a genuine desire to assist customers and enhance their shopping experience
