About The Role And School
We are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream primary school in Newham, supporting a dedicated SEN provision class within the school. This SEN Teaching Assistant role involves working closely with pupils who have a range of additional needs, supporting learning, communication, and social development throughout the school day.
The school is a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary with a strong commitment to supporting pupils with special educational needs. The SEN Teaching Assistant will be based within a specialist SEN class, working alongside the class teacher and support staff to ensure pupils receive tailored support in line with their individual needs and EHCP targets.
This SEN Teaching Assistant role is full-time until July, with additional adhoc SEN Teaching Assistant opportunities also available for candidates looking for flexible work within Newham primary schools.
Job Responsibilities
Support pupils with SEN in a dedicated SEN class within a mainstream primary school
Work closely with the class teacher to deliver tailored learning activities
Provide 1:1 and small group support as a SEN Teaching Assistant
Support communication, engagement and behaviour strategies
Assist with EHCP targets and pupil progress
Help create a safe, structured and supportive learning environment
