Overview Of Project/roleThe Rail Plant Maintenance Engineer (Overground) is responsible for leading the route compatibility of railway on-track plant and rolling stock, including the safety critical tactical direction, deployment, budget management, business plan support, decision making and execution strategy. The Rail Plant Maintenance Engineer will assist the Infrastructure Manager ensuring that the Windrush Line can be maintained safely, efficiently and effectively delivering as defined performance requirements. The RPME will be responsible for the strategic direction and tactical deployment of plant and lifting equipment their maintenance, processes, procedures and performance to enable the maintenance access and work planning function to deliver execution in relation to maintenance engineering stewardship.Key AccountabilitiesTo ensure the safety of line and safety critical asset / systems inspection, compliance, work prioritisation and quality, strategy and tactical deployment requirements of the mechanical fleet and all lifting equipment, on/off track plant, hand-held plant. This includes completion of self-assurance checks, quality checks and audits.Assist the Infrastructure Manager, to manage a 5-year asset investment budget. Establish and lead the strategic intervention regime and the management of maintenance engineering stewardship to enable the defined London Overground standards, processes, procedures and performance to be delivered.Deliver maintenance deployment planning with operations colleagues, ensuring that the operational requirements align with the maintenance engineering asset management requirements and deliver a compliant, safe, operable and maintainable railway.To ensure that London Overground fully addresses the specification, planning, execution and quality of the maintenance engineering and safety management requirements. This is part of the asset management strategy and plan to deliver the required asset whole life, Reliability Availability Maintainability (RAM) and Remote Condition monitoring.Ensure Asset maintenance standards are met by applying established policies and procedures to ensure safety and functional limits are included in maintenance delivery/ plant and rolling stock approvals.Lead the strategic approach for continuous improvement through a programme of change initiatives; specifically using Reliability Based Maintenance as part of the “Predict and Prevent” asset stewardship strategy.Indirect management of a team of technicians. conduct skill gap analysis, develop and execute training and maintain competency of all staff within their control.SkillsSkills, Knowledge & Experience Team leader experience with leadership skills to motivate professionals from multiple disciplines.Excellent communication skills with proven negotiation and influencing.Excellent decision-making and analytical skills.Established risk management skills.Ability to formulate and articulate clear visions for the planning and delivery of initiatives and programmes.Ability to deliver projects of high value and complexity.KnowledgeB.Eng. or equivalent qualification / relevant experience.Member or Associate of a relevant professional institution (IET, IMechE)Knowledge of Network Rail Safety standardsKnowledge of regulations required for the use of Plant and Lifting equipment (LOLER)Demonstrable understanding of the business structure of and agencies associated with the Rail IndustryDemonstrable application of railway safety-related standards regime and processesExperienceExperience in the route compatibility of on track plant and rolling stock in relation to the infrastructure.Experience in the rail or other infrastructure and asset critical industriesExperience in the management of infrastructure/asset stewardship and maintenanceExperience of successfully managing a range of maintainersExperience of producing and delivering maintenance engineering stewardship strategies.Experience of working alongside other engineering functions.Application Process Please apply using your CV and a two-page covering letterThink carefully about the skills, knowledge and experience in the advert and cover this in your CV and cover letter PDF format preferred and do not include any photographs or images Equality, diversity and inclusionWe are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.
