Contract Type: Permanent, full-time 37.5 hours per week with some evenings and weekends
About us
Norwich Theatre is one of the leading arts organisations in the UK and the largest in the East of England, encompassing the historic Theatre Royal, the creative hub Stage Two, and the intimate mid-scale Playhouse. We present, produce and co-create a vibrant programme of live performance and creative engagement activities to entertain, enrich and inspire audiences of all ages and backgrounds, and we work with national and international partners to ensure we bring the very best theatre to our region.
We are an independent not-for-profit charity with no regular public funding, and rely on a share of ticket sales, one-off grants, fundraising/membership schemes and other commercial activities to deliver the work we do both on stage and in communities.
About the role
Norwich Theatre is seeking a Programming Coordinator to play a key role in supporting the delivery of our diverse, ambitious and high-quality programme of performances and events.
This is a dynamic and fast-paced administration and coordination role at the heart of the Programming team, focused on the logistical delivery of our programme. It offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across the full lifecycle of programmed work from initial enquiry and booking through to delivery and final settlement.
Working across multiple artforms and platforms, you will be closely involved in the systems, processes and relationships that underpin a successful programme.
As Programming Coordinator, you will act as a central point of contact for visiting companies, artists and internal colleagues, ensuring the smooth coordination of all programmed activity. You will take ownership of key administrative and logistical processes, including managing programme information, supporting contracts and settlements, coordinating visiting company requirements, and ensuring clear communication across departments. You will also contribute operational insight to support audience development, access provision and engagement activity within the programme.
About you
This role is ideal for someone who is ambitious to build a career in theatre programming within a receiving venue and is keen to develop a deep understanding of how programmes are shaped, negotiated and delivered, rather than producing or commissioning work. We are looking for someone proactive, highly organised and detail-focused, with the confidence and judgement to manage competing priorities and take ownership of complex processes with minimal supervision.
You will bring relevant experience from an arts, events or cultural setting, alongside a strong interest in theatre and performing arts.
We offer
A good salary, 25 days holiday, plus public holidays, plus your birthday off, together with an inclusive culture focussed on wellbeing and happiness. We have a commitment to personal and professional development, discounts on a range of on food, drink and theatre tickets and access to My Discounts, employee discount scheme, offering savings on retail, gyms, travel, utilities and more.
