About the Role

We are seeking a Junior Research Assistant to support the delivery of our Economics and Finance programmes.

This role focuses on supporting students in developing structured research and analytical work, including essays and research-based projects. You will work alongside a senior mentor to guide students through analysis, argument development, and academic writing.

Key Responsibilities

• Support students in developing research projects in economics and finance
• Assist with research design, literature review, and topic development
• Support data interpretation, case studies, and analytical thinking
• Review written work and provide structured, detailed feedback
• Suggest improvements in argumentation, clarity, and academic rigour
• Guide students in building logical, evidence-based arguments
• Ensure consistent progress throughout the programme

Required (Skills & Capabilities)

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Master’s or early-stage PhD in Economics, Finance, or a related field
• Working knowledge of statistical tools such as Stata, R (programming language), or Python
• Basic understanding of econometric concepts (e.g. regression analysis, hypothesis testing)
• Ability to work with datasets using tools such as Microsoft Excel and/or SQL
• Familiarity with handling structured datasets (e.g. macroeconomic, survey, or financial data)
• Foundational understanding of economic and financial concepts (e.g. markets, incentives, basic risk and return)
• Experience in academic writing and structured argumentation
• Excellent communication skills
• High level of professionalism and attention to detail
