We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.The RoleAn exciting opportunity has arisen within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services for a Health Care Support Worker to join our Inpatient Services on a permanent basis.Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the post holder will have the daily opportunity to be involved in the delivery of high quality, patient-centred care for individuals requiring care and treatment for alcohol and substance use.Applicants should be able to evidence and demonstrate a strong desire and motivation to practice within an inpatient alcohol and drug recovery service with the ability to always provide high quality, person centred and compassionate care.Applicants must be able to fulfil the main duties and responsibilities as outlined within the job description. Effective verbal, written and electronic communication skills as well as effective time management are essential.The initial base for this post will be within Eriskay House, Stobhill Hospital. The shift pattern is currently 37 hours per week (reducing to 36hrs from April 2026). Shift patterns include long day dayshift and rotational nightshift as per Service requirements.A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment. The successful candidate will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland.Candidates should provide original and authentic responses to all questions within the application form.
