Purpose of Role

The Financial Controller will be responsible for managing the company’s financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, maintaining financial controls, forecasting and supporting the leadership team with financial insights. 

Key Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping activities including

·       Prepare payrolls for all employees and ensure all submissions to HMRC are made accurately and on time

·       Ensure timely processing of invoices

·       Ensure timely payment of invoices, all payroll related costs and other payments

·       Management of cash balances to ensure funds are available for payments when due whilst maximising interest income

• Prepare and reconcile quarterly VAT returns
• Prepare cash flow forecasts
• Monitor costs, and financial performance against budgets
• Coordinate year-end accounts and liaise with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors
• Prepare 5-year plans for the business
• Support fundraising, investor reporting, and financial planning activities and other requests from COO
• Maintain financial controls and compliance with statutory requirements
• Develop and improve financial systems and processes as the business grows
• Oversee cash flow management and forecasting

Key Requirements

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) or relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
• Experience in a startup or small business environment preferred
• Proficient with accounting software and Excel
• Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills
• Able to work independently and support a fast-paced, growing business
