A failure to achieve the vetting requirements will result in the officer being referred to HR for redeployment.Location: City of London Police estateSalary: According to National Pay Scales plus allowancesDescription Of DepartmentThe Sensitive Intelligence Units (SIU) is a nationally accredited secure environment for the receipt, development and dissemination of “all-source” intelligence and data relating to the serious crime threat.The SIU proactively supports CoLP and partner agencies in their Serious Organised Crime (SOC) missions by bringing high quality timely actionable intelligence to operational teams while providing the necessary safeguarding measures to protect covert and sensitive methodology and assets.Purpose Of The RoleThe Intelligence Development Officer develops and evaluates sensitive intelligence, assesses the threat, risk, harm, vulnerabilities, and opportunities, and identifies how to fill any intelligence gaps. They manage the dissemination of intelligence product, support reactive, proactive crimes in action, and investigations in the SOC arena. Furthermore they provide advice on tactical options.Essential Criteria – including the behaviours that will be tested at application/interview:RoleApplicants should familiarise themselves with the professional profile of an Intelligence Officer – College of Policing, which will be the basis for assessing candidate’s suitability for the role. In addition:You will have practical experience as an investigator dealing with serious organised crime and handling sensitive intelligence.You will understand relevant legislation including RIPA 2000, IPA 2016 and PA 1997, including the relevant codes of practice.You will be familiar with assessing threat and risk in dynamic environments using the National Decision Model.You will have excellent people skills and emotional intelligence and will be capable of representing the department to a range of internal and external stakeholders.You will have a strong teamworking ethic and a willingness to be take ownership of tasks and activities.You will be expected to enrol upon and be capable of completing the College of Policing’s Intelligence Professionalisation Programme.You will be expected to undergo vetting to DV level.Types Of Qualification(s) NeededPlease refer to relevant section of Intelligence Officer – College of Policing.Desirable Criteria (If Applicable)You will be a qualified and experienced substantive detective, who has completed ICIDP accreditation.You will have experience in the use of covert methodologies and in the handling of sensitive intelligence that is generated as a result.You will have experience in information collection and collation across open-source and digital platforms. You will have good knowledge of the legislation relating to web-based investigations. Selection ProcessApplications will be subject to a shortlisting process to identify those that are suitable to be interviewed for the role.
