The Role
As a Bookkeeping & VAT Supervisor the role will join the Accounts & Business Services team in a hands-on role covering client management, staff supervision, bookkeeping, and VAT. The position offers flexibility depending on experience, either taking on a more senior role opportunity to put your stamp on the department with a clear pathway to develop.
- Overseeing the firms bookkeeping and VAT service, supervising staff both in the UK and overseas
- Managing bookkeeping for a portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients
- Preparing and reviewing VAT returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Supporting clients with VAT queries and day-to-day bookkeeping matters
- Assisting with Making Tax Digital (MTD), including ITSA
- Working with Xero or similar cloud-based accounting software
- Supporting clients with system queries and best practice usage
- Assisting with or preparing management accounts
- Supporting the wider accounts team with information for year-end accounts
- Reviewing work prepared by junior staff
- Supporting workflow planning and meeting deadlines
About The Candidate
The successful candidate will have solid bookkeeping and VAT experience within practice and be confident working directly with clients.
- Experience in bookkeeping and/or VAT within an accountancy practice
- Strong working knowledge of Xero or similar cloud software
- Good understanding of MTD and working directly with clients
- Strong communication skills with a client-focused approach
- Able to commute easily to North West London
