Ancillary Assistant – (Horton Lodge Special School) Full Time NEW

Horton Lodge Special School is looking for enthusiastic Ancillary Assistants to join our team from 1st June 2026. This opportunity is ideal for an individual looking to build a fulfilling career in a special setting with no Teaching Assistant qualification required.

We require:

X1 Ancillary Assistant full time (32.5 hours per week) to support a class (08:45-15:45).

X3 Ancillary Assistants for 10 hours per week to support lunch time each day, Monday to Friday 11:30-13:30

The successful candidates will be:

• Friendly, organised, and proactive
• Experienced in working with or caring for children of primary school age (or willingness to learn)
• Confident and approachable with strong communication skills
• Able to relate well to both children and adults
• Be adaptable, willing to take on a variety of tasks and eager to learn

As an Ancillary Assistant, you will work under the direct instruction of teaching staff, providing essential support to the pupils. You will play a key role in ensuring a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for pupils with diverse needs.

Responsibilities include:

• Encouraging interaction and engagement in all school activities
• Assisting children with personal, health and self-help needs
• Supervising and supporting pupils, ensuring safety
• Helping prepare and maintain environments and displays
• Supporting teachers with pupil record-keeping and administrative tasks
• Preparing and maintaining learning resources and general equipment
• Participaing in training sessions and professional development
• Maintain cleanliness
