About This RoleJob Location: LondonJob OverviewThe UK / Ireland HSE Manager is responsible for the delivery and continuous improvement of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) programs across all BlackRock offices in the UK and Ireland.This role combines hands-on operational execution with regional leadership, ensuring HSE programs are consistently implemented, risks are proactively managed, and controls and documentation are in place to support both compliance and effective risk reduction.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary HSE contact for all offices across the UK and Ireland, with accountability for program delivery and site performance.Partner with Facilities, Engineering, HR, Security, Resilience and business stakeholders to ensure consistent implementation of HSE programs across locations.Provide guidance and oversight to ensure local execution aligns with global standards and expectations.Drive continuous improvement in safety culture, program effectiveness, and risk management practices across the region.Oversee the delivery and effectiveness of core life safety programs, including:CPR/AED program (training coverage, equipment readiness, responder networks)Emergency preparedness training and awarenessEmergency response planning and documentationLead planning and execution of emergency drills (e.g., evacuation, response scenarios), including coordination, evaluation, and follow-up actions across sites.Maintain regional oversight of emergency preparedness, ensuring appropriate readiness across all locations.Partner with internal stakeholders and vendors to support and oversee health center operations, ensuring alignment with HSE standards and employee support programs.Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to monitor health center and program utilization, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure services effectively support employee health, wellbeing, and risk mitigation.Lead event safety planning and oversight for internal events across the UK and Ireland.Ensure appropriate risk assessments and control measures are in place for events and workplace activities.Provide oversight and support for the UK & Ireland Occupational Health program, ensuring effective delivery in line with health, safety, and wellbeing standards.Partner with event organizers, Facilities, and Security to review event setups, identify potential risks, and implement controls.Ensure effective incident management processes, including appropriate investigation, follow-up, and closure of actions.Drive accountability for execution across sites, ensuring commitments and actions are delivered.Oversee regulatory compliance and internal standards implementation across all UK and Ireland offices.Lead and support inspections, audits, and monitoring activities, ensuring sites are meeting required standards.Oversee programs such as food safety inspections, ensuring coordination with Facilities and vendors and appropriate documentation.Ensure HSE documentation and records are consistent, complete, and audit-ready across all locations.Support alignment between requirements, processes, and evidence to ensure controls are clearly defined and operating effectively.Key Skills & CompetenciesStrong understanding of HSE programs, workplace risk management, and regulatory compliance.Ability to balance hands-on operational engagement with regional oversight and leadership.Experience applying risk and control concepts, including documentation, evidence, and issue management.Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and challenge effectively.Structured, detail-oriented mindset with a focus on execution and outcomes.Analytical capabilities to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or related field.8–10 years of relevant experience in HSE, operations, or risk-related roles.Experience leading HSE programs across multiple sites or regions.Experience with emergency preparedness, workplace safety programs, and regulatory compliance.Familiarity with data tracking and systems (e.g., Excel, ServiceNow) preferred.Our BenefitsTo help you stay energized, engaged and inspired, we offer a wide range of employee benefits including: retirement investment and tools designed to help you in building a sound financial future; access to education reimbursement; comprehensive resources to support your physical health and emotional well-being; family support programs; and Flexible Time Off (FTO) so you can relax, recharge and be there for the people you care about.Our hybrid work modelBlackRock’s hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all.
