Senior Financial Reporting Accountant

Location: Liverpool, United Kingdom (Speke – 3 days onsite)

Salary: Inside IR35 – £250 pay per day

Duration: 12 months Contract

Role Overview

This is a newly created position within a growing Global Accounting Operations function. The Senior Financial Reporting Accountant will sit within the Record to Report (R2R) team and will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial accounting and reporting for one or more legal entities within a global organisation.

The role involves managing complex accounting transactions, statutory reporting, and month-end close activities, as well as supporting continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional finance collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post recurring, standard, and manual journals, including intercompany and top-side adjustments
• Review and approve business partner journals in line with global accounting policies
• Prepare accruals, prepayments, and reclassification entries (e.g., utilities, insurance, payroll corrections, property taxes)
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations (accruals, prepayments, inventory, intercompany, payroll, etc.)
• Resolve reconciliation issues across ERP and reporting systems (e.g., SAP and consolidation tools), liaising with stakeholders where required
• Support intercompany sales and COGS reconciliations and confirmations
• Process allocations including R&D, payroll, WBS-based costs, benefits, and share-based payments
• Maintain and reconcile prepaid and accrued balances
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes (P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow)
• Analyse variances between actuals, budget, and forecast
• Prepare statutory financial statements and local regulatory reporting
• Manage IFRS reporting and local GAAP adjustments
• Support internal and external audit requirements
• Contribute to continuous improvement and finance transformation initiatives

Skills & Experience Required

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA / ACA / CPA / CMA)
• Experience in a Big 4 or mid-tier audit firm highly desirable
• Strong experience in financial accounting, reporting, and month-end close processes
• Exposure to SAP or similar ERP systems preferred
• Experience working in a global / multinational environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage complex transactions
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to prioritise and make timely decisions in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable working with cross-functional teams and resolving system/process issues
