About The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and organised coordinator to join the Postgraduate Taught (PGT) Programmes Team, part of the Education Centre within the School of Medicine. The role plays a key part in ensuring the effective delivery of the School’s PGT portfolio, combining programme coordination, people supervision, and functional leadership within a defined area of responsibility.
A core element of the role is the supervision of administrators supporting PGT programmes. You will provide day-to-day oversight, allocate work, support development, and ensure service standards are met, escalating resourcing or performance issues where appropriate. You will contribute to team workload planning and support continuity of service across the team.
In addition to programme coordination, you will hold functional responsibility for a defined area such as assessments, finance, or governance. Within this remit, you will act as the School PGT-level point of expertise, coordinating processes, maintaining oversight of compliance and deadlines, and supporting colleagues to apply policies and procedures consistently. You will contribute to the review and improvement of processes and documentation, including standard operating procedures.
Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will manage competing priorities, apply sound judgement, and proactively identify and resolve issues that impact programme delivery. You will work closely with colleagues to support planning, risk management, and continuous improvement across the PGT portfolio.
This is a varied role that offers the opportunity to develop and apply higher-level administrative expertise, build strong professional relationships across the School, and make a meaningful contribution to the delivery of postgraduate education within the School of Medicine.
About You
You will bring substantial experience of higher education administration or a comparable complex environment, with a strong understanding of programme delivery, academic processes, and stakeholder management.
You will be confident in coordinating work across others, providing guidance, oversight, and constructive feedback to administrators. You will be able to prioritise workloads, manage risks, and make informed decisions, referring complex or high-risk matters to your line manager as appropriate.
You will also demonstrate the ability to take ownership of a functional area, developing and maintaining expertise, ensuring compliance with institutional requirements, and supporting colleagues across the team. A commitment to continuous improvement and professional development is essential.
The School of Medicine values collaboration, professionalism, and innovation, and provides structured opportunities for ongoing development and progression.
