Job Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Facilities Operative to join our busy Receipt & Distribution team, with additional duties supporting Portering services across the site. This is a key role within the Health Board, contributing to the safe, efficient, and effective running of our hospital services.

You will play an essential part in ensuring that goods, equipment, medical supplies, and essential items are received, recorded, processed, and delivered promptly to departments. You will also support Portering duties as required, helping maintain high standards of patient-focused service across the site.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

Receipt & Distribution

• Receive, check, and record incoming deliveries in line with Health Board procedures.
• Sort, store, and distribute supplies, equipment, and mail to departments in a timely manner.
• Ensure accurate documentation and use of electronic tracking systems where required.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe storage and loading area.
• Liaise with delivery drivers, suppliers, and internal departments to resolve delivery issues.

Portering Support

• Assist Portering Services with ad‑hoc requests including the movement of:
• Equipment
• Medical devices
• Specimens
• Medical records
• Furniture and stores
• Support patient movement under direction (non‑clinical tasks only).
• Respond to urgent requests to ensure continuity of service.
