This could be the role for you!An opportunity has arisen for a Research Assistant II to support the R&D team which is responsible for all research and development activity within the organisation. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to molecular biology projects, support new product and process development.Due to the nature of the projects, this role is suited to somebody who is highly organised and will take pride in delivering high-quality R&D work whilst suggesting process improvement to increase efficiency.Your duties will include:To complete and contribute to a variety of molecular biology projects, including:Experimental design and implementation of laboratory workContributing to the research, development, and improvement of new and existing assaysMaking recommendations to senior staff in a timely, thorough, and coherent mannerReporting on a weekly and monthly basisMonitoring relevant scientific literatureMaintaining lab books / electronic recordsPresenting data at internal meetingsProvide assistance in the day-to-day running of the laboratory, including:Maintenance of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)Assistance with the development and execution of research protocols involving molecular biologyHealth and safety, Information security and quality, including:Complying with all the companies’ health and safety, information security and quality standard policiesGenerate, and update where necessary, Risk Assessments (RAs), COSHH forms and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)To complete any other tasks commensurate with the level and nature of the post as delegated by the Head of Research/Development.What we’re looking for in you:EssentialBSc degree in Life Sciences or relative discipline with minimum 2 years experience in commercial settingsMolecular biology/genetics knowledgeHands-on experience in assay workflow execution (DNA to sequencer) of different sequencing technologies.
