Ward 31 is a 23 bedded, dedicated fracture neck of femur ward and is the only ward of its kind in Scotland. It is a busy, forward thinking ward within a diverse directorate, working collaboratively across the Orthopaedic Department.Our patient population is predominantly frail and elderly, with many patients experiencing delirium, dementia, and a range of acute medical conditions alongside complex orthopaedic needs. Delivering high quality, compassionate, and person centred care is central to the work of the ward.Successful applicants will join a highly motivated and dynamic multidisciplinary team who are committed to delivering the highest standard of care and continuously improving patient outcomes. The team works closely with medical staff, therapists, and wider support services to ensure safe, effective, and timely care.The post includes rotational shift working, covering day and night duty, in line with service needs.Although the post is based in Ward 31, there may be opportunities to gain experience across our Trauma and Elective Orthopaedic Wards. In addition, NHS Fife opened the Fife Elective Orthopaedic Centre in September 2022, offering further opportunities for learning, development, and rotation within Orthopaedic Services.This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop clinical skills, experience multidisciplinary working, and contribute meaningfully to the care of a complex and rewarding patient group within a supportive team environment.Candidates with experience or a genuine interest in delivering person centred care, particularly for patients living with dementia or delirium, would be advantageous; however, full training and support will be provided.Applicants must be able to work effectively under pressure and demonstrate the resilience required to cope with the constant and sometimes competing demands of a busy acute ward environment.Extended clinical skills are desirable; however, training opportunities will be available for successful candidates to develop skills including:Patient vital sign observationsBlood glucose monitoringVenepunctureWe are seeking a motivated, reliable, and hardworking individual who is committed to providing high quality care and who wants to make a meaningful difference to patients and their families.A willingness to complete SVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) is essential for this role, and ongoing support will be provided to enable successful completion.This post offers the opportunity to develop professionally within a supportive multidisciplinary team, with access to learning, skills development, and experience caring for a complex and rewarding patient groupInformal enquiries: Ward 31 SCN Susie Grubb and CN Samantha McGregor and Stephanie Ritchie: 01592 729777.
