Company DescriptionAt Hardbeat Magazine we are dedicated to providing a platform for underground rock and metal bands from the UK and around the world. We are a team of alternative music enthusiasts who pride ourselves on bringing the best in unfound talent to the fore.Role DescriptionThis is an entirely voluntary role, as is every role at Hardbeat currently, but you can tailor it to your needs. You can get involved in reviewing upcoming albums, EPs and singles as well as attending gigs and festivals for free on behalf of Hardbeat where you will be able to speak to some of the hottest new bands in the country. In 2025 alone we were invited to festivals including Takedown, Burn It Down, Slam Dunk, 2000trees, Radar and Download. QualificationsWhile you don’t need any experience at all to join the team, we look for the following:A passion for alternative music, whatever the genreThe desire to bring your new favourite band to the attention of othersA curiosity about your local sceneAvailability to attend gigs, events, and interviews – this will always be agreed with youPrevious experience in writing or music journalism is a plus but definitely not mandatory.Familiarity with social media and the Google Drive suite is desired but not essentialWhat We’ll Do For YouWe will ensure that you are given as much help, training and guidance as is required for you. When the team kicked off Hardbeat, we had barely any writing or editing experience, so we know how to help. This includes setting you up for your first interview with a band, giving you tips and editorial comments of your reviews and even helping you get the right kit before you head off to your first festival.
