What difference will you make?
This role will be instrumental in strengthening the charity’s alignment with education, SEND provision and wider public sector systems.
A core part of our growth is deepening our work with schools and expanding our impact for children and young people with additional needs. To do this effectively, we need stronger insight into how systems operate, where opportunities exist, and how we can position ourselves as a trusted and valuable partner.
This Trustee will provide that insight, helping us to build meaningful relationships with schools, local authorities and other services, while ensuring our programmes align with policy, funding priorities and local need.
They will also support the Board in identifying opportunities for earlier intervention and more joined-up provision, helping to embed the charity more deeply within the wider landscape of support for children and young people.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a passionate individual wanting to make real change within the disability and SEN community, influence how support is delivered and accessed and be an integral part of our future.
This is a Trustee role for someone who understands how systems work — and wants to help improve them.
Be able to work with a proactive and varied group who have a wide skill base
Personal experience of disability or SEN is very much welcomed.

What will you be doing?
Blaby District Spartans is at a pivotal stage in its growth.
We have built a strong, values-led organisation rooted in inclusion, where football is the starting point, but the real impact is far broader. Alongside a growing football provision, we now deliver SEN holiday clubs, have Men’s Mental Health Football that is supported by the Football Association, as well as work in partnership with schools, and run initiatives that support confidence, wellbeing and belonging for children, young people and adults.
Our current Board brings a strong mix of commercial, operational, marketing, legal and lived experience. It is engaged, committed and ambitious for what comes next.
However, as we continue to grow, we are now facing a positive defining moment.
A key part of our development plan is growing and expanding with a new full-size 3G Football Pitch and facilities. This presents both a challenge and an amazing opportunity. We are now actively shaping plans to progress the project for facilities, partnerships and long-term infrastructure needed to support our future.
At the same time, demand for what we deliver continues to increase. We are expanding our work with schools, deepening our SENd provision, and building new programmes that extend well beyond the pitch. This growth brings both opportunity and complexity and requires stronger strategic capacity at Board level.
We are therefore looking for Trustees who will play an active role in helping us navigate our next phases.
This is not a passive governance role. We are looking for individuals who will contribute at a strategic level and use their experience, insight and networks to help us
Shape and deliver our facilities strategy, including exploring viable opportunities to support the 3G development
Depending on experience, Trustees may take on focused responsibilities such as contributing to working groups or subcommittees aligned to key areas including facilities, partnerships or commercial development.
This is an opportunity to join a charity at a point where decisions made at Board level will have a direct and lasting impact on its future direction.
For the right individuals, this role offers the chance to help shape something that is growing quickly, matters deeply to the community it serves, and has the potential to become a leading model of inclusive, community-based provision.
It starts with football but what we are building goes far beyond it.
