Here’s the facts about the role:
As Treasury Accountant, you’ll oversee the monthly accounting for treasury transactions, reconciling and reviewing balance sheet control accounts, and supporting day‑to‑day cash monitoring and bank account administration, including cover for the Treasury Assistant when necessary.
You’ll play a central role in supporting the Senior Treasury Manager and Group Treasurer in managing a £3bn+ loan portfolio. This will include reviewing loan and ISDA documentation, contributing to treasury negotiations, and working closely with advisors and solicitors to ensure ongoing compliance and best practice.
You’ll lead on the operational requirements of hedge accounting across the Group and support the annual refresh of the £2bn Euro Medium Term Note (EMTN) programme. Where required, you’ll also assist with the securitisation of loans, working alongside the Senior Security Manager.
The role involves maintaining a robust three‑year cashflow forecast to monitor liquidity and ensure compliance with the Group’s Treasury Management Policy and Golden Rules. You’ll arrange loan drawdowns and rollovers, oversee the accuracy and integrity of the Treasury Management System, and maintain comprehensive records of all funding arrangements, including covenants, fixes, rates and availability.
You’ll prepare and present clear, accurate reports for the Board and Treasury Committee, enabling effective oversight of treasury activities. This includes producing monthly covenant compliance reports and forward‑looking forecasts, as well as delivering 100% accurate and timely regulatory returns and providing information to credit rating agencies. Working closely with the Business Planning Accountant, you’ll ensure treasury inputs are accurately reflected within the business plan. You’ll also prepare forecasts and budgets for finance costs and loan balances, reporting on variances and considering both UK GAAP and FRS 102 requirements.
In addition, you’ll provide a responsive and professional service to investors and funders, ensuring all information requests and regular returns are delivered on time. You’ll lead on Know Your Customer (KYC) returns, coordinating with internal teams as required.
You’ll be a fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or CIMA) with a strong understanding of current accounting standards and SORP, and demonstrable experience working within a Treasury function, including the interpretation of loan documentation. You’ll have proven experience of balance sheet reconciliations, budgeting and forecasting, alongside excellent customer service skills, enabling you to liaise confidently and professionally with investors and other key stakeholders, delivering work of the highest quality.
