About The Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Internal Technical Sales Engineer with a focus on industrial electrical control and automation products. This role involves providing both sales and technical support to the company’s external customer base, ensuring that clients receive expert guidance on product selection, application, and integration. The successful candidate will develop and nurture customer relationships, identify sales opportunities, and promote a comprehensive range of electrical and automation products to maximize revenue. This position offers a dynamic environment where technical knowledge, customer service skills, and commercial awareness are essential. The role is ideal for individuals living in the North of the Tyne area, including North Shields, Whitley Bay, Wallsend, Longbenton, Jesmond, Cramlington, and Blyth, facilitating convenient commuting.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundation in electrical engineering principles, with relevant qualifications or demonstrable practical knowledge. While formal qualifications such as ONC/HNC in Electrical Engineering are advantageous, candidates with equivalent experience or proven product application expertise will also be considered. Essential qualifications include GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry systems is required. A full, clean driving license is mandatory, enabling effective client visits and coordination. Candidates should have prior experience in sales or customer service environments, with an understanding of electrical distribution or related fields being highly beneficial. The role is open to internal sales engineers, technical support engineers, electrical engineers seeking a transition into a commercial setting, or graduate engineers with customer-facing experience seeking to develop their technical sales career.
Responsibilities
The core responsibilities of the Internal Technical Sales Engineer include responding promptly to technical inquiries from customers, providing expert advice on product applications, and offering suitable alternatives when necessary. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of the company’s product range, including control gear, switchgear, automation equipment, variable speed drives, PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation, sensors, cable management systems, and industrial data communication enclosures. The candidate will collaborate closely with Field Sales Engineers and other team members to achieve sales targets and support business growth. Generating accurate quotations, assessing competitive market conditions, and ensuring profitability are vital aspects of the role. Additionally, the engineer will participate in product training to stay updated on new offerings and technological advancements. Engaging in administrative tasks, maintaining detailed customer records, and contributing to team meetings and strategic planning are also part of the responsibilities.
