About This Role
This role involves planning and delivering highly effective Geography lessons across the allocated timetable, contributing to curriculum development and supporting students to achieve strong academic outcomes within a safe and purposeful learning environment. The postholder will also act as a form tutor and play a key role in maintaining high standards of behaviour, engagement and student wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured Geography lessons in line with the Trust’s Learning and Teaching Framework
- Secure strong progress and attainment for all students, including disadvantaged learners, those with SEND and the most able
- Use assessment effectively to inform teaching, provide feedback and close gaps in learning
- Maintain high standards of behaviour for learning in line with Trust expectations
- Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment opportunities, including trips and fieldwork
- Fulfil form tutor responsibilities, supporting students’ personal development and wellbeing
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and carers to support student progress
- Uphold safeguarding, behaviour and all Trust policies consistently
The ideal candidate
- Holds QTS and a relevant degree
- Has strong subject knowledge in Geography
- Demonstrates the ability to deliver high-quality teaching that secures student progress
- Has effective behaviour management skills and high expectations
- Is committed to inclusive practice and supporting all learners
- Communicates effectively with students, colleagues and parents
- Is organised, reflective and committed to ongoing professional development
- Contributes positively to the wider life of the school
