Supported Housing Manager Full Time NEW

YMCA Essex support young people from birth to 25 through nurseries, out of school clubs, youth work and supported housing.

This position is for a full time Supported Housing Manager at our housing project in Colchester where we house 44 16-25 year olds for up to two years who are homeless or vulnerably housed. All residents have low to medium support needs and are expected to be in work, education, training or volunteering.

The Supported Housing Manager will manage a team of three housing officers and two night support workers. They will have a small caseload of residents (maximum of 5) to keywork. They will support the Head of Housing Services in the smooth running, safety and compliance of the building as well as assisting with any complex case work that may arise, writing reports, gathering and presenting impact and outcome data, motivating the team to work in creative ways and seek out any funding opportunuties that may be available.

This is an incredibly rewarding and immersive role for the right person, with the opportunity to manage a great team but not lose touch with frontline skills and face to face resident involvement.

We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

• Previous people management experience of at least two years
• Social housing/ supported housing experience of at least two years with a local authority housing department, housing association or ALMO
• Current indepth knowledge of housing issues and legislation including Renters Rights Act and The Supported Housing (Regulatory Oversight) Act 2023
• Welfare benefits experience of at least two years with a good understanding of Universal Credit, Housing Benefits, limited capability for work, PIP
• CIH level 4 or 5, housing diploma or housing degree or working towards one of these
• Excellent IT skills including Microsoft 365, Sharepoint, outlook, excel and word
• Experience of working with challenging/vulnerable adults
• Experience of high-level report writing and completing statutory reports
• Experience of working in and handling stressful situations
• Ability to develop and monitor a suite of Key Performance Indicators
• Team management including supervisions, reviews, appraisals, capability, disciplinary and target setting
• Event and fundraising knowledge and organisation
• Budget management
• Delivering staff training in a person centred and trauma informed way
• Ability to embed professional boundaries in a sometimes chaotic environment
• Ability and experience of working with minimal supervision and using initiative
• Problem solving
• Multitasking and prioritising using planning skills
• Understanding needs of people from diverse cultural, social and racial backgrounds
• Flexibility with regard to working hours as required including cover, sometimes at short notice.

Working hours are Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm however the successful candidate must be able to work shifts between 8am – 4pm or 12 noon to 8pm during times of service need, annual leave or sickness

To take part in an on call rota (usually one a week) for which an additional payment is made. You will need to live within 30 minutes travel time of CO1.

To work at the housing project Monday – Friday. This position does not offer remote working.
