Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Youth Activity Support Workers to assist in organising and facilitating engaging activities for young people within our community. The role involves supporting youth development through creative, educational, and recreational programmes, fostering a safe and inclusive environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and young people, with experience in mentoring or youth work being highly desirable. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a positive impact while developing valuable skills in youth engagement and support.
Our company is based near Colchester in the south east of England but we house and support young people all over the country depending on what is required buy our service users.
We are looking at expanding our team and support young people and take them on activities and short breaks up in and around Scotland.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, organising, and delivering a variety of youth activities tailored to different age groups and interests.
- Support young people during activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Act as a positive role model, demonstrating respectful behaviour and encouraging participation.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to young participants, fostering their personal development.
- Collaborate with team members to create an inclusive environment that promotes learning and fun.
- Support the implementation of special education needs (SEN) programmes where applicable.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and activity feedback for programme evaluation purposes.
- Ensure the activity space is kept clean, organised, and safe for all participants.
Requirements
- Experience or interest in teaching, mentoring, or working with children and young people.
- Knowledge of youth work principles and practices.
- Ability to engage effectively with children of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan engaging activities independently or as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
- Previous experience in special education or working with children with additional needs is advantageous.
- A recognised qualification or training related to youth work or education is desirable but not essential.
- Ability to commit to scheduled programme hours and adapt to changing needs within the community setting.
Pay: Up to £230.00 per day
