The post holder will require a high degree of professional autonomy and self-management, and will be required to account for their professional practice through appraisal and audit.Main duties of the jobThis is a 1.0 WTE post in City & Hackney Specialist CAMHS is based at Homerton Row in the Emotional & Behavioural (E&B) and Adolescent Mental Health (AMHT) Pathways.The sessional commitment will be reviewed through the job plan process, having regard to work commitments and intensity, but will consist of assessment clinic sessions, contribution to the duty rotas and CRIT meeting (Crisis Response Integrated Team) as well as managing a psychiatric caseload.There are opportunities for joining established group programs such as DBT, specialist parenting and family therapy clinics if interested.A timetable of commitments will be agreed with the supervising consultant and lead consultant.The post holder will be accountable to the Clinical Team Lead for the E&B pathway, and will be supervised by the Consultant from the Emotional & Behavioural Pathway.The administrative base for this post is located at Homerton Row.The post-holder may participate in the teaching of other disciplines and any in-service training within the team.Working for our organisationOur mission is to make a positive difference to people’s lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Clinical leadership to E&B team is provided by a Consultant Psychiatrist jointly with a non-medical Clinical Team Lead who is a family therapist.Clinical leadership to AMHT is provided by a Consultant Psychiatrist jointly with a non-medical Clinical Team Lead who is a family and systemic psychotherapist. The multidisciplinary team from both pathways consists of family therapists, psychotherapists, psychologists, dance and movement therapists and CAMHS practitioners.The Post-holder WillTogether with other members of the E&B MDT and AMHT MDT, the post-holder would be expected to assess new referrals and to maintain a treatment caseload of children and young people with both Emotional & Behavioural Disorders as well as severe mental illness indicating a high risk to themselves or others (Psychosis, Severe Depression, Bipolar, OCD), monitoring use of medication and other treatments as appropriate.Person specificationQualificationsEssential criteriaMB.BS, MBChB or equivalentFull Registration with the GMCSkillsEssential criteriaExcellent communication skills, verbal, non verbal and writtenSkills and a range of therapeutic interventions and psycho-social treatment optionsKnowledgeEssential CriteriaChild and adolescent mental health disorders and their managementExperience of pharmacological treatmentsMaking Things BetterQuality Improvement is a key part of our work to improve our services and refine how we do things.
