The VacancyOur Investment business unit is a key part of our consulting services and is firmly established as a UK market leader. We currently advise on around £200bn of assets for a diverse client base, providing full investment consulting services to DB pension trustees and sponsors across a wide range of sectors, as well as LGPS and other public sector clients.We’re looking for an experienced Senior Research Consultant to play a leading role in delivering high-quality investment research and insight that supports client advice and the wider business — in a way that’s professional, efficient and genuinely value-adding. You’ll contribute to (and where appropriate, lead) both client‑led and business‑as‑usual research across asset classes, maintain up‑to‑date market views, and develop clear, fit‑for‑purpose research outputs within agreed priorities and timelines.You’ll also help shape what we do next — generating and progressing new ideas for research development, working closely with workflow managers, stream delivery leads, consultants and proposition owners to assess client need, commercial relevance and deliverability. Alongside this, you’ll build strong relationships with consultants and industry contacts, share knowledge across the team, support the development of junior researchers, and act as a visible and credible representative of our research views across the investment and pensions marketplace.*We are open to considering candidates on a part time or full-time basis*What will your role look like?Providing high‑quality, credible manager research and insight to clients and internal consultantsDeveloping and maintaining research frameworks, methodologies and market views within your agreed area of focusSupporting the production of client papers for manager searches, monitoring and reviewsProducing clear, insightful manager commentary that strengthens client adviceSupporting the planning, prioritisation and resourcing of manager research projectsBuilding strong working relationships with internal consultants and key stakeholdersManaging and following agreed manager research and search procedures, including LGPS requirements where applicableContributing new research ideas and approaches within agreed governance processesSupporting the team’s external profile through appropriate industry engagementDelivering research efficiently and to deadline, working within agreed controls and audit requirementsThough this is a varied role, your key tasks will include:Leading client‑led and BAU research across asset classesProducing high‑quality outputs for manager searches, monitoring and reviewsPartnering with consultants and workflow leads to shape research prioritiesKeeping market views current and research frameworks robustCoaching and developing junior researchers where appropriateSupporting external engagement and knowledge sharingTo enjoy and succeed in this role, you will have:Excellent research skills and commercial awarenessStrong interpersonal and communication skillsA flexible, proactive and innovative approachA collaborative working style aligned to our values – friendly, partnering, straightforward and confidentLeadership qualities and the ability to articulate complex ideas clearlyRelevant qualifications such as FFA/FIA or CFA and strong UK pensions market knowledgeWe would also encourage applications from candidates who perhaps do not possess all the attributes and experience listed above but are competent with the majority and would be able to quickly develop the additional skills and experience required in post with our full support.
