The Company
Wheelfreedom is a Chessington-based provider of mobility equipment including specialist wheelchairs and complex seating solutions, as well as more traditional products such as mobility scooters and rise and recline furniture. We have revolutionised the industry, combining expert knowledge, a modern spacious showroom and a fully-equipped workshop in our Chessington headquarters.
We are passionate about the level of service we provide our customers in an industry that has not always been associated with this, and we always strive to go above and beyond our customers’ expectations. Our service makes a transformative difference to people’s lives, and we build lasting relationships with our customers—many of whom stay with us for decades.
We aim to be the leader in providing complex clinical and technological solutions that are not otherwise possible within the industry, and our engineering capability is central to achieving this ambition.
The Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Rehabilitation Engineer to lead the technical evolution of our engineering capability and help establish a level of innovation and quality that goes beyond what is currently available in the industry.
This is a highly hands-on, technical role suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and developing bespoke solutions that make a meaningful difference to people’s lives.
You will work closely with our Clinical and Engineering teams to design, develop, and deliver complex mobility, seating, and assistive technology solutions tailored to individual customer needs. Alongside this, you will help drive continuous improvement across our engineering capability, raising technical standards and supporting the development of the wider engineering team.
While we are ideally looking for an experienced Rehabilitation Engineer, we are also open to candidates from other engineering backgrounds who can demonstrate strong relevant technical skills, problem-solving ability, and a passion for innovative engineering solutions.
Core responsibilities will include:

While experience with wheelchairs, seating, and mobility products is preferred, we will also consider candidates from outside the industry who bring exceptional technical ability, creativity, and a strong track record of engineering problem-solving.
