Receptionist/Telephonist Full Time

Duties

An opportunity has become available to join the Belford Hospital reception team on a part-time basis of 21.89 hours. The successful candidate will be the primary point of contact for telephone enquiries and face to face visitors. Duties include:

• Operation of a digital telephone switchboard providing first line communication to the general public presenting a polite and helpful manner.
• Welcome patients and visitors to the hospital and assist with enquiries promptly and politely, with a focus on maintaining confidentiality.
• Carry out laid down procedures covering call out of on call personnel, alarm activations and emergency calls responding in a calm composed manner.
• Frank and process incoming and outgoing mail.
• Working across reception areas throughout the hospital to support service delivery.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a good standard of education. Previous experience of telephone operating systems is desirable but not essential as training will be given. Basic IT skills are essential, including the use of e-mail and MS365 applications. Previous experience of working with patient management systems is desirable.

• Effective from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours. Part-time hours will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis. There will be an increase in the hourly rate to ensure that pay remains unaffected.
