Where landlords don’t comply, you’ll apply the most appropriate legislation—starting with advice and escalating to formal enforcement as needed. You’ll manage clear case files, draft accurate notices, and work with landlords, tenants, and partner services to deliver safe, compliant homes and meet the Council’s objectives.About The TeamThe private sector housing team is currently a small group of people passionate about improving conditions in the private rented sector of our Borough. We are a very friendly team and will aim to ensure the successful candidate is very happy and supported.About YouYou’ll bring a solid academic and professional foundation to the role: an MSc/BSc/Diploma in Environmental Health, EHORB (or equivalent) registration, and a track record of maintaining CPD (for example, via CIEH) to stay competent and current. You will have a full, current driving licence and are a member of a professional body (ideally chartered) or hold a relevant postgraduate qualification. Strong numeracy, literacy and grammatical accuracy underpin your casework, ensuring clear evidence, reports and notices.You have applied skills in environmental health practice—conducting investigations and inspections, supporting property licensing, and using housing-related legislation and enforcement tools in real-world settings. You understand the principles behind housing regulation and can implement them in practice, engaging confidently with landlords and tenants to secure compliance.
