Job Advert: Peer PractitionerOrganisation: Families in Trauma and Recovery (FITAR)Hours: 15 hours per weekRate of Pay: £14.25 per hourLocation: Glasgow (with some flexibility for remote/online work)About Families in Trauma and RecoveryFamilies in Trauma and Recovery (FITAR) supports individuals, parents and carers affected by trauma through peer-led, trauma-informed support. We are a values-driven organisation, guided by compassion, respect, inclusion, honesty, and the belief that people are experts in their own lives.What Is Peer Work?Peer work is about using lived experience intentionally and responsibly to support others. A Peer Practitioner does not support people by “sharing stories” alone, but by drawing on their lived experience in a boundaried, reflective, and purposeful way to build trust, encourage hope, and support recovery. Understanding the difference between having lived experience and working effectively as a peer is essential in this role.The RoleWe are looking for a Peer Practitioner to provide one-to-one and group-based emotional support to parents and carers. The role also involves managing a small caseload, facilitating groups, attending meetings and events, working collaboratively with partners, and contributing to the development of FITAR’s peer-led work.Key Responsibilities• Provide one-to-one emotional support (in person, phone, text, email, or online)• Facilitate or support peer group sessions• Manage client support and associated paperwork• Attend meetings and events on behalf of FITAR• Promote FITAR’s work and build appropriate links with partner organisations• Support and buddy other Peer Practitioners where appropriate• Contribute ideas to strengthen and develop peer and project workWho We’re Looking ForEssential• Lived experience relevant to the work of FITAR• A clear understanding of peer work and the use of lived experience within professional boundaries• Alignment with FITAR’s values-driven approach• Ability to build trusting, supportive relationships• Good communication skills and basic IT confidence• Ability to work as part of a teamDesirable• Experience in a peer role• Peer2Peer training and/or PDA in Peer Support• Experience supporting individuals or groups affected by traumaHow to ApplyWe are not looking for a formal application form.Please email:• A CV or short summary of your experience, and• A brief explanation of what you would bring to FITAR, including why peer work and values-based practice matter to you maggie@familiesintrauma.co.ukClosing Date: 18/05/2026
