About The Role

We are seeking an immediate, temporary Payroll Officer to join our client’s team for a period of three months. This role is crucial in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for the Northern region. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing payroll operations, maintaining precise employee data, and ensuring compliance with all relevant tax and regulatory requirements. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic organization, supporting HR and finance functions through effective payroll management. The role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently within tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in payroll processing, preferably within a corporate environment.
• Strong understanding of payroll legislation, tax obligations, and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
• Proficiency in payroll software and MS Office applications, especially Excel.
• Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with third-party providers and internal teams.
• Prior experience managing payroll for a regional or multi-site operation is a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in payroll or HR are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Directly manage payroll operations for the Northern region, ensuring employee data accuracy and timely submission to third-party payroll providers.
• Ensure all earnings, deductions, and benefits are correctly calculated, processed, and reflected in pay runs, maintaining high levels of accuracy and completeness.
• Deliver all payroll runs within scheduled deadlines, allowing sufficient time for review, adjustments, and processing to prevent delays.
• Generate and distribute payroll reports accurately and promptly to relevant business units and third-party providers.
• Oversee monthly payroll accounting activities, including journal postings, leave accruals, variance analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with all payroll-related tax obligations such as PSA, P11D, and other statutory requirements.
• Maintain effective relationships with third-party payroll providers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to facilitate seamless payroll processing and process improvements.
• Partner with the People Experience team on initiatives like year-end pay reviews, audits, and compliance checks.
• Stay updated on changes in payroll legislation and best practices, implementing necessary adjustments to processes and policies.
