Monitoring and Payments Officer Full Time NEW

We have a rewarding opportunity for a Monitoring and Payments Officer to join our Finance Transactions team.

You’ll help us make sure payments for care services are accurate, timely and managed well, supporting colleagues across adult social care and our wider organisation. This work helps us deliver essential services for local people and ensures we maintain strong financial controls.

You’ll be part of a dedicated and well organised service that works closely with teams across the city council.

This role may be suitable for home working, following an assessment. Home-Based roles require minimum of one day in the office per week.

Main Responsibility

• Collate monthly payment information from system reports and check for errors before authorisation.
• Monitor spending so service managers have accurate budget information.
• Support colleagues and care providers with placement, payment and system queries.
• Work with providers to recover overpayments and process refunds.
• Maintain and update all payment related systems, making sure packages match agreed arrangements.
• Help deliver our Direct Payments audit service so financial returns are completed and recorded.

The Ideal Candidate

• Strong analytical skills and can clearly communicate information in writing and in person.
• You’ll need to be confident using Microsoft systems including spreadsheets and have English and Maths at grade C or above (or equivalent).
• Can plan their own workload, stay organised and meet deadlines.
• Works well with a wide range of colleagues and external partners.
• Uses initiative to solve day-to-day issues and knows when to ask for support.
• Embraces improvements and new ways of working.
• Operates in line with our workplace values: dedicated, respectful and collaborative.
• If you are offered the role, we will carry out a Basic DBS check

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
