About Oxford Wood Recycling (OWR)
Oxford Wood Recycling (OWR) is a vibrant social enterprise and charity with a dual mission: to reduce wood waste and to support people facing barriers to employment. Based in Abingdon, we reclaim and resell wood, craft sustainable timber products, and provide inclusive employment opportunities as well as a variety of socially driven community initiatives – all while offering a friendly and welcoming environment to our community.
With a team of 20+ passionate staff and a diverse retail and reuse operation, we take pride in being a Real Living Wage employer, a Disability Confident organisation, and a place where purpose and sustainability are at the heart of everything we do.
Why Join Us?
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a purpose-led, mission-driven team and take a central role in shaping and growing our marketing and outreach work. You’ll be part of something meaningful – creating impact through environmental reuse, retail innovation, and inclusive employment – all within a supportive, values-based culture.
The Role
As Marketing & Outreach Officer, you will be responsible for delivering the marketing for OWR, with a focus on the Wood Shop and working closely with the CEO to deliver our outreach programme.
Marketing the Wood Shop is focused on our social media channels (Facebook and Instagram) along with our website (www.oxfordwoodrecycling.org.uk), newsletter and other publicity through adverts, press releases and attending events.
We are looking for someone who will lead on developing and delivering a strong social media presence along with increasing our outreach and other promotional activities. While footfall and sales in the Wood Shop is the priority there will also be a need to promote our wider activities, especially our employability programme and our waste wood collections service. We plan to have a presence at community events through the year and this role will work with the CEO and others to identify the opportunities and ensure that we have the materials and people to promote our work appropriately. These events will range from public speaking through to large scale community events – requiring planning, coordinating and managing stands and events and associated materials.
Key Responsibilities
· Create engaging, on-brand marketing materials for digital and print use (we currently use CANVA)
· Working with the Operations Manager, plan, create and publish content across social media platforms, particularly Instagram and Facebook, to drive reach, footfall and sales in the Wood Shop

· Develop videos for social media with staff and volunteers that reflect our ethos and values.
· Maintain and develop other digital communication and sales platforms such as ebay, Facebook marketplace and Etsy as required.
· Track and analyse website/digital platform traffic flow and provide regular internal reports.
· Support the CEO in producing regular newsletters and circulating with use of Mailchimp and other tools.
· Work closely with colleagues to ensure marketing and outreach activity aligns with organisational values, tone of voice and objectives
