You’ll serve as the subject matter expert and day-to-day guide for our International Senior Payroll Specialist, while personally driving accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement across our six-country EMEA and APAC payroll footprint.This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced payroll professional ready to step into a lead role – influencing how payroll operates globally, championing automation and AI-driven improvements, and partnering closely with People, Finance, and Tech teams to build a best-in-class function.Job location: London, UK (3 days p/week in-office)Full-time permanent roleWhat You’ll OwnFunctional LeadershipAct as functional lead for international payroll operations across six countries: UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Singapore, and AustraliaProvide day-to-day guidance, quality review, and mentorship to the International Senior Payroll SpecialistServe as the primary escalation point for complex payroll queries, compliance issues, and vendor mattersPartner with the Global Payroll Manager to set team priorities, improve workflows, and ensure consistent delivery across all regionsGlobal Payroll ExecutionOwn end-to-end payroll processing and sign-off for UK and Ireland, ensuring accuracy and on-time delivery every cycleOversee and review payroll delivery for France, Germany, Singapore, and Australia through CloudPay and in-country vendorsManage and validate payroll inputs in Workday, ensuring data integrity from hire to payEnsure full compliance with local payroll legislation, tax law, and statutory requirements across all jurisdictionsFinance & Compliance PartnershipLead payroll reconciliations, variance analysis, and internal controls across all pay cyclesOwn month-end and year-end payroll close activities with accounting partners.Support internal and external audits, providing documentation and analysis as neededCross-Functional CollaborationPartner closely with People Operations, HRBPs, Benefits, Finance, and People Tech to deliver a seamless employee payroll experienceAct as a subject matter expert in cross-functional projects, including system enhancements, benefits integration, and global mobility scenariosInnovation & Process ImprovementIdentify and lead initiatives to streamline, automate, and modernize payroll processesChampion the use of AI tools for data validation, anomaly detection, and payroll reporting insightsDocument processes, build scalable playbooks, and drive standardization across the payroll teamWhat We’re Looking ForYou’re an experienced payroll professional who brings technical depth, a collaborative mindset, and a natural instinct for leading others without needing a formal management title.Required Experience8+ years of payroll experience, with at least 3 years in a multi-country or global payroll environmentDeep expertise in UK and/or Ireland payroll (essential) – you know the legislation, the nuances, and the edge casesHands-on experience with payroll in at least two of the following: France, Germany, Singapore, AustraliaExperience providing guidance, review, or informal leadership to other payroll team membersProven track record of managing complex reconciliations, payroll controls, and compliance reportingSystems & ToolsProficiency with Workday HCM and/or payroll input workflowsExperience with CloudPay or a comparable global payroll aggregator/vendor platformComfort with Excel or Google Sheets for data analysis and payroll reconciliationExposure to or active interest in automation tools and AI applications within payroll or finance operationsSkills & AttributesHigh attention to detail with the ability to manage competing deadlines across time zonesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills – you spot issues before they become problemsExcellent communication skills; able to translate complex payroll topics for non-payroll stakeholdersProactive, self-directed work style with a continuous improvement mindsetOur salary range reflects the cost of labour in the country where the job post is advertised.
