Who We Are Looking ForWe are looking for an Infrastructure Automation Engineer to help our Platform Engineering Configuration Management team reduce manual effort and improve control through automation, while also turning telemetry, logs, and operational data into actionable insights. You will build and maintain Splunk searches and dashboards, define data quality controls, and deliver reliable reporting that supports security, compliance, reliability, and continuous improvement. You will work closely with platform engineers, security partners, and application teams to ensure automation outcomes are measurable, metrics are trusted, and insights drive prioritised remediation.What You Will Be Responsible ForBuild and maintain Splunk searches, dashboards, and alerts to monitor infrastructure automation health, compliance signals, and operational KPIs.Automate data collection and evidence generation from infrastructure tooling (e.g., scan results, inventories, job outcomes) using scripts and integrations, improving consistency and reducing manual reporting effort.Define, implement, and track data quality controls (completeness, accuracy, timeliness, consistency), including automated checks and exception reporting.Partner with engineers to standardise event/log formats and field extractions (CIM alignment where applicable), improving search performance, automation observability, and report reliability.Produce recurring reporting packs and self-service dashboards for stakeholders (platform, security, risk, audit), including narrative insights, trends, and recommended actions.Investigate anomalies, identify root causes for data gaps or metric movements, and drive remediation with source-system owners and engineering teams.Document data definitions, KPI logic, dashboard ownership, automation/reporting runbooks, and lineage to improve transparency and enable consistent interpretation across teams.What We ValueStrong experience using Splunk for analysis and reporting, including SPL, dashboards, scheduled searches, and alerting.Hands-on scripting or automation experience (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) to automate data collection, reporting, and operational workflows.Proven ability to define and improve data quality, including establishing data definitions, validation rules, and monitoring.Experience analysing time-series/telemetry or log data and translating findings into clear insights for non-specialist audiences.Good understanding of infrastructure/operations concepts (e.g., servers, patching, configuration drift, incidents) and how metrics support reliability and compliance.Proficiency with Excel and at least one analysis language or tool (e.g., Python, SQL) for data preparation and validation.Familiarity with Git-based workflows and basic CI/CD concepts to manage and deliver repeatable automation/reporting changes.Strong stakeholder management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities across engineering and risk/audit partners.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Splunk data onboarding (inputs, forwarders, sourcetypes), field extractions, and performance optimisation.Familiarity with the Splunk Common Information Model (CIM) and designing reusable, standardised data models.Experience producing audit-ready evidence packs and traceable KPI definitions (data lineage, controls, and sign-off).Exposure to ServiceNow, CMDB, or other ITSM/asset data sources used for operational reporting.Experience integrating data sources via APIs and automating scheduled reporting (e.g., scripted extracts/transformations, report distribution, CI/CD-driven updates).Education And Qualifications4+ years of experience in infrastructure automation or related roleA Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field is requiredExperience in managing compliance programs and/or familiarity with security frameworks and standards such as CIS, NIST, or ISO 27001About State StreetAcross the globe, institutional investors rely on us to help them manage risk, respond to challenges, and drive performance and profitability.
