Health Care Support Worker – District Nursing Full Time NEW

The Role

We are looking for a Health Care Support Worker within Glasgow District Nursing Services, providing a range of clinical and personal care interventions to patients in their homes or residential settings. You will support the District Nurse in delivering safe, effective communitybased care.

Band 2 roles are not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes.

All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Full-time, permanent

Base location – Govan Health Centre, Glasgow South

Shift Pattern – Monday to Sunday, including weekends and backshifts

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting clinical care Assist District Nurses with a broad range of clinical duties.
• Managing longterm conditions Support monitoring and care for patients with chronic illnesses.
• Wound care Contribute to assessment, dressing changes, and ongoing wound management.
• Endoflife care Provide compassionate support to patients and families.
• Promoting independence Enable patients to remain at home safely and maintain their preferred place of care.
• Preventing hospital admissions Deliver timely interventions to avoid unnecessary admissions and support safe discharge.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

• SVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or equivalent experience
• Ability to work with people and as part of a team
• Ability to work without direct supervision.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• A driving licence required for community travel.
• Understanding of communitybased care, longterm condition management, wound care principles, and personcentred support.
