We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.The RoleAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and compassionate Senior Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) to join the Medical Assessment Unit team within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.The purpose of the Medical Assessment Unit is to provide a high-quality, safe, and supportive environment for all patients.As part of the multidisciplinary team, the Senior Healthcare Support Worker will play a vital role in delivering person-centred care to patients within the acute hospital setting under the support and supervision of a Registered Nurse.All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:This is a permanent postWe have full and part-time hours available 36 hours – 18hoursYou will work these hours on 12-hour shifts, Rotational Days and Nights Monday – SundayThis post will be based at the Royal Alexandra HospitalPlease note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.Key ResponsibilitiesYou will provide compassionate, person-centred care to patients, carers, and relatives, ensuring high standards of care are maintained at all times. Undertake a range of delegated patient care duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse, including patient observations, urinalysis, blood pressure monitoring, pregnancy testing, wound care, stoma care, and removal of peripheral cannulae, reporting any concerns or changes in a patient’s physical or psychological condition appropriately.You will communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and members of the multidisciplinary team, responding to enquiries and escalating concerns when required. Support the safe transfer and movement of patients and contribute to maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient clinical environment.Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in line with information governance requirements and ensure confidentiality is upheld at all times. Adhere to NHSGGC policies, procedures, and safe working practices, including the appropriate use of equipment, stock control, housekeeping responsibilities, and reporting equipment faults or safety issues.Participate in ongoing learning, training, and personal development activities to maintain skills, knowledge, and professional standards.Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job: SVQ 3 qualification or equivalent knowledge gained in a relevant area through experience, on the job training and short courses. Awareness, understanding and compliance of policies and practices e.g. Escort Policy, Prevention and control of infection and Health and Safety. This post holder is therefore able to work within the scope of their practice under direct and indirect supervision by the registered nurse (training will be provided)Can demonstrate knowledge of equipment used within the department to support the registered nurse and ensure that they are compatible and in good working order.
