Oversee daily plant operations, working with internal teams and third parties to maintain safe and efficient performance. Help drive a positive safety culture and prepare the business for future growth.Your Core Responsibilities.Working at our Edmonton site in north LondonReporting into the Head of MRFs SEUndertake regular health and safety inspections, audits, and promote a positive safety culture across the siteDeliver health and safety training and provide mentorship to staff to ensure effective policy implementationAct as a key member of the management team, leading by example and supporting high safety standardsMonitor and audit compliance with site health and safety policies and procedures, analysing data to identify trends andmaintain robust safeguardsLiaise with the central SHQ team to manage hazard and near miss reporting, audits, behavioural surveys, and conduct thorough incident reviewsServe as the site’s fire safety lead, ensuring all statutory inspections and fire prevention plans are completed and up to dateInduct visitors, new starters, and contractors, verifying that contractor risk assessments and method statements (RAMs) are suitable and sufficientOversee site traffic management plans and collaborate with environmental and facilities teams to ensure compliance with statutory inspections and smooth operational deliveryRequirementsOur essential requirements.NEBOSH General Certificate qualification as a minimum is essentialPrevious experience in a Health and Safety role, preferably within the waste industryProven management experience with strong analytical skills, able to work in a fast-paced environmentProficient in Microsoft Office and computer literateExcellent communication skills, organised with the ability to prioritise workloads and remain calm under pressureFull UK driving licence and availability for on-call emergencies requiredBenefitsAnd here’s why you’ll love it at Biffa.Ongoing career development, training and coaching – Because if you don’t grow, we don’t growCompetitive salaryGenerous pension schemeRetail and leisure discountsHoliday and travel discountsLife coverChanging The Way People Think About Waste.At Biffa, we love working with waste.
