RAY (Refugee Action York) is a trusted local charity that has been supporting individuals and families seeking safety and stability in the York area since 2002. We provide practical support, language assistance, community connections, and personal growth opportunities to people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Our aim is to help individuals settle in York with dignity, confidence, and a sense of belonging through services such as youth activities, English language support, and education pathways. Supported by over 100 dedicated volunteers, we create inclusive communities where everyone can thrive. At RAY, we are committed to respect, partnership, and empowering individuals to shape their own futures.
Role Description
This is a new post created to take ownership of and responsibility for all of RAY’s project work including leading the team of Senior Project Workers and Project Workers in delivering all of RAY’s projects and services.
Key tasks are:
Provide leadership, management and support for the project team and oversee the effective delivery of services
Be a key member of the leadership team, playing a strategic role in the running and development of RAY and its services
Contribute to improvements in the wellbeing of service users, putting them and their needs at the centre of everything we do
Work closely with the CEO, providing proactive, regular updates and concise reports on progress, priorities, and key developments
Hours: 37 hours per week usually to be worked on weekdays, between 9 am-5 pm. RAY delivers a monthly service on Sundays and you will be required to take part in that service which involves a 6-7 hour working day for which you will be given the equivalent time off in the following week.
Salary: NJC Scale 29-33 (£39,862-£44,075) Post available for a minimum of 12 months.
Location: RAY does not have an office base – staff work from home, with meetings held generally by Teams, but occasionally these may be held in person in various locations generally close to the City Centre.
