Vichag Economics, founded by economist Ramyank Chaganty, is dedicated to bridging the gap between academic economics and its real-world applications. This new, young organization offers applied economics training designed to help students gain a practical understanding of how economists work across consulting firms, government departments, central banks, think tanks, and policy institutions. The courses emphasize real-world case studies, hands-on analytical tools, and practical applications, covering topics like competition economics, macroeconomic forecasting, and public policy evaluation. In addition, the program fosters essential technical and professional skills, such as Excel modelling, data analysis, and effective economic writing, empowering students to enhance their employability and confidently navigate real-world economic challenges.
Role Description
This is a remote contract role for a Public Policy Economist. The role involves working with the founder to create case studies based on the person’s experience. These case studies will be taught to students by the economist on the weekends when the course programmes are organised. Time commitment on the weekends will only be 2 hours.

Preference for applicants who have worked in Department of Transport, OFGEM or other civil services with heavy policy impact assessments.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in consulting in one of the following fields, health, labour, education and/or transport. (min 4 years experience)
- Knowledge of the common methodologies undertaken by top consultancies in public policy and policy evaluation. Such as cost-benefit analysis or impact assessements.
- Enthusiastic and collaborative attitude
- Passionate about showcasing own experience and enlightening students.
