About This Role
The contract:
The role: The Executive Assistant to the Deputy Head Master will provide comprehensive, senior level support to the Deputy Head Master and assist the Senior Management Team more broadly. You will manage the Deputy Head Master’s diary, attend a wide range of meetings and committees, have oversight of the School’s calendar, and oversee the maintenance of important documents and policies that are essential to ensure the School’s compliance with relevant legislation. It is an opportunity for involvement at the heart of the School’s business in a busy, challenging and continuously changing environment, and a unique insight into the life of our vibrant and historic School. Please refer to the job description in the list of documents attached to this advertisement for more details.
The skills: This role will suit a candidate with first-class administrative and inter-personal skills, and a good eye for detail. You will need to use your good judgement, discretion and initiative in all aspects of your work. Your excellent organisational abilities will allow you to manage multiple tasks with short deadlines to ensure that colleagues, senior staff members and parents are assured of a good service. Your strong written and verbal communication skills and tactful, approachable manner will enable you to build strong professional relationships throughout the School.
The environment: Harrow School is situated within a beautiful site in Harrow on the Hill, northwest London, and is one of the best-known schools in the world, with around 835 boys studying at Harrow. The role is situated in the offices of Harrow School’s Senior Management Team, working within a friendly and supportive administrative department.
The Benefits Include
Applications will be processed as they are received, so early application is recommended.
Equality, diversity and inclusion are values that are important to us at Harrow. We believe in diversity of thought and actively welcome everyone regardless of their background to bring their valuable and relevant skills to our community.
The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All successful applicants must be willing to undergo enhanced child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with any past employer and the Disclosure and Barring Service, and it is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. No member of staff will be able to start until these checks are complete and this process takes, on average, a month. Please plan accordingly.
