EUR Rates Trader – Investment Bank Full Time

Overview:

A leading global markets platform is looking to appoint an experienced EUR Rates Trader to join its London team. This role is suited to a commercially minded and technically strong market professional who can combine disciplined risk taking, sharp market judgement and a strong understanding of European fixed income products.

The successful individual will be responsible for managing risk across EUR rates markets, supporting institutional client activity and contributing consistently to the desk’s revenue generation. The role requires an individual who is comfortable operating in fast-moving markets, can identify relative value opportunities across products and is able to communicate clearly with both sales partners and internal stakeholders.

Core Responsibilities

• Make markets across a range of EUR rates products, including government-related bonds, supranational and agency paper, and selected spread products
• Manage curve, spread and macro exposures within agreed trading parameters and risk limits
• Identify and execute relative value opportunities across cash bonds, swaps, futures and related hedging instruments
• Work closely with sales teams to respond to client activity, provide pricing support and contribute relevant market insight
• Monitor central bank developments, political events, supply dynamics and broader market positioning to inform trading decisions
• Support activity in both the primary and secondary European fixed income markets where relevant to the desk
• Maintain clear and disciplined oversight of daily profit and loss, risk usage and trade rationale
• Contribute to the refinement of pricing, monitoring and analytical tools that improve desk efficiency and decision making
• Coordinate effectively with risk, compliance, operations and technology teams to ensure robust execution and control standards

Candidate Profile

• Experience on a rates, government bond or broader fixed income trading desk
• Strong understanding of European rates markets and the interaction between cash bonds, swaps, futures and funding dynamics
• Demonstrated ability to manage risk in volatile conditions while remaining commercially focused
• Strong analytical instincts and the ability to translate market observations into actionable trade ideas
• High level of confidence using trading systems, spreadsheets and market data tools; exposure to coding or automation would be advantageous
• Clear communication style and the ability to engage credibly with internal teams and professional counterparties
• Strong sense of ownership, sound judgement and professional maturity
• Degree level education in finance, economics, mathematics or another relevant discipline
