End State Manager Full Time NEW

This senior technical management role sits at the core of Dounreay’s environmental protection and decommissioning mission. You will lead the development and delivery of Environmental Safety Cases (ESCs) and Site End State activities, ensuring the site can meet its long‑term commitments safely, compliantly, and credibly.

What Will I Be Doing

You will provide authoritative technical leadership for Environmental Safety Cases and the Site End State, setting clear strategy, scope, and standards while ensuring delivery aligns with regulatory expectations and national waste policy. Working at a site wide level, you will own and maintain the Environmental Safety Case and Waste Management Plan, enabling robust, optimised decision‑making for long‑term outcomes.

You will lead specialist teams, engage confidently with internal and external stakeholders, and represent Dounreay at senior technical forums. Through strong governance, continuous improvement, and effective management systems, you will ensure environmental safety cases remain fit‑for‑purpose while supporting decommissioning progress.

• Set strategy, governance, and programme baselines for Environmental Safety Cases, waste management planning, and end state delivery
• Manage specialist ESC capability, providing expert advice and supporting site‑wide implementation of the near term work plan and End State requirements
• Own and continuously improve the site wide Environmental Safety Case and supporting tools, data, and decision‑making frameworks
• Manage stakeholder interfaces, assurance, contracts, and teams while addressing non‑compliances and driving best practice
• Perform the responsibilities of management authorisations relevant to the post

What Will I Bring

You will combine strong academic foundations with proven experience operating in regulated nuclear environments, bringing clarity, confidence, and influence to complex technical and stakeholder landscapes. Your background will equip you to lead teams, shape strategy, and underpin long‑term environmental and end‑state decisions.

• Degree in Science or Engineering (or equivalent qualification supported by significant relevant experience)
• Proven experience leading Environmental Safety Cases and contributing to site end‑state decisions, with strong stakeholder communication and management system development experience
• Post specific capability analysis assessment
