We are seeking applicants to join our Mental Health Support Team who cover schools and colleges in Kirklees. This is an exciting time to join our team who deliver evidence based interventions to children within our schools with mild to moderate mental health conditions. Focusing on early intervention we also provide training and workshops to schools using the whole school approach, which enables schools to provide a culture of wellbeing for all their pupils.

Our team sits within our CAMHS service which means that we can provide expert CPD opportunities, further training and supervision from a diverse range of experienced practitioners.

Main duties of the job
This role would suit an experienced Educational Mental Health Practitioner with experience in assessing and working with young people with mild- moderate mental health concerns and preferably experience delivering low intensity CBT interventions and providing clinical supervision.
You will confidently manage a caseload of young people including triaging, consulting with schools/parents and assessing CYP with a range of mental health issues and making decisions regarding their support needs. You will liaise with the mental health leads within the schools to implement a whole school approach and enable staff to be competent to deal with low to moderate mental health concerns. You will be expected to provide workshops for young people, parents and carer’s and school staff.
You will support the senior leadership team and be involved with service development of the MHST, taking initiative to identify opportunities to improve the service.
You will be expected to draw on your experience to lead case management supervision and supervise the junior staff within the team.
You will be able to make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the services referral protocols, refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary.

JOB SUMMARY
The post holder will work as part of the Kirklees Mental Health Support Team (MHST) to manage a defined case- load with a focus on providing comprehensive assessment, consultation and evidence-based interventions, for children and young people (CYP) with mental health difficulties and their parents/carers.
This post will involve supporting Educational Mental Health Practitioners (EMHP)s with developing their clinical practice, psychological formulation and school engagement.
The post holder will be expected to provide Case Management and Clinical Skills Supervision to a number of trainee/EMHPs within the service (training may be provided).
The post holder will be able to work flexibly across a range of education providers, be a keen contributer to joint working initiatives and adaptive to change in a ever-growing service. Kirklees MHSTs are delivered through a partnership involving CAMHS (South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust) as the lead provider, Educational Psychology services (Kirklees Council) and Northorpe Hall Child and Family Trust as wrap around services.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
The postholder will:
1.1 Care/service/function Provision:
Work in partnership to deliver a range of evidence-based mental health interventions with children and young people (CYP) as well as some parent-led interventions.
Facilitate evidence-based group interventions with CYP and/or parents.
Offer specialist mental health-based consultation, advice and guidance with professionals.
Be responsible and ensure the effective co-ordination of clinical care provided including consideration to safeguarding and clinical risk issues where indicated.
Support clinical staff to identify children and young people with emerging mental health needs aswell as psychological formulation.
Promote overall access to Kirklees MHST where appropriate.
Establish therapeutic relationships with children, young people and their families and implement evidence based therapeutic interventions.
Plan and organise interventions ensuring that reviews are held within the required time frames.
Ensure that all members of the multi-disciplinary team, their colleagues, service users and appropriate others are informed/updated of changes involving current care plans, progress, mental state, and psychosocial factors in line with best practice.
Liaise with and advise CYP and families, local authority and other statutory bodies and third sector agencies including childrens safeguarding as necessary.
Communicate sensitive information to carers and relatives.
Use a range of inclusive communication styles and channels as appropriate to the task.
Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or patients in treatment, where appropriate.
Care plan and manage own caseload
Maintain accurate written records on the electronic record system of the Trust
Undertake mental health assessments, with an agreed plan of action and/or care and low moderate intervention.
Set and monitor Goal Based Outcomes with CYP/parents.
Undertake complex risk assessments and develop a formulation of risk which will lead to the development of risk management plans which have taken into consideration a range of possible options.
Undertake and continuously re-evaluate complex bio-psycho-social assessments and develop a working formulation which will lead to the development of personalised care packages in line with evidence based and routine outcome measures.
