Working Hours: Monday to Friday (shift patterns may apply)

Role Overview
We are seeking a friendly, organised, and motivated GP Receptionist Modern Apprentice to join our busy medical practice. This role combines front-line patient care with administrative duties while completing a Modern Apprenticeship in Business & Administration. This role would suit a recent school or college leaver.
The successful candidate will gain nationally recognised qualifications while developing essential skills in customer service, administration, digital systems, and healthcare confidentiality.
No prior experience in healthcare is required as full training will be provided.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Patient Services
- Act as the first point of contact for patients in person and by telephone
- Book, rearrange, and cancel appointments using the practice clinical system
- Greet patients professionally, ensuring confidentiality at all times
- Signpost patients to appropriate services or clinicians
Administration & Digital Systems
- Accurately input and update patient details on the practice system
- Process repeat prescription requests following practice procedures
- Scan, file, and manage patient correspondence and clinical documents
- Use Microsoft Office applications (email, Word, basic spreadsheets)
Communication & Teamwork
- Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, clinicians, and colleagues
- Work collaboratively within the reception and administration team
- Handle queries sensitively and escalate concerns where appropriate
Compliance & Confidentiality
- Adhere to GDPR, data protection, and patient confidentiality standards
- Follow NHS, practice, and health & safety procedures
- Maintain a polite, calm, and professional manner at all times
Apprenticeship Responsibilities
- Work towards the Business & Administration Modern Apprenticeship (SCQF Level 6)
- Complete off-the-job learning, assessments, and portfolio evidence
- Apply learning directly to workplace tasks
Pay: From £14,560.00 per year
